We are seeking a seasoned Technical Project Manager with strong data domain expertise to lead and coordinate high-impact initiatives for a major US airlines client. This role bridges onsite HQ leadership with offshore GCC (Global Capability Center) teams, driving delivery excellence across AWS-based Data Engineering and Data Science programs.

🎯  ROLE OVERVIEW

The Technical Project Manager will serve as the critical link between the airline’s onsite US headquarters and offshore GCC data teams. You will own end-to-end project delivery for data engineering pipelines, data science model deployments, and platform modernization efforts—all running on AWS. This role demands both deep technical fluency and exceptional cross-cultural stakeholder management capabilities.

✅  REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Technical Skills

• Proven experience managing Data Engineering and/or Data Science projects in a cloud environment
• Solid understanding of AWS data services (S3, Glue, Redshift, EMR, Athena, SageMaker, Lambda, Step Functions)
• Familiarity with data pipeline architecture, ETL/ELT frameworks, and ML model lifecycle management

• Hands-on experience with Agile (Scrum/SAFe) delivery frameworks; proficiency in JIRA, Confluence, or equivalent tools
• Understanding of data governance, data quality, and cloud security best practices

🔑  KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Leadership & Delivery

• Lead full project lifecycle for data engineering and data science initiatives—from initiation through delivery and hypercare
• Define project scope, milestones, and success KPIs in alignment with airline business goals
• Maintain project plans, risk registers, RAID logs, and status dashboards across parallel workstreams
• Drive Agile/Scrum ceremonies (sprint planning, retrospectives, stand-ups) across distributed teams

GCC & Offshore Coordination

• Serve as the primary coordination bridge between onsite HQ stakeholders and offshore GCC data teams
• Manage cross-time-zone collaboration, ensuring alignment on priorities, deliverables, and communication cadence
• Facilitate offshore team capacity planning, resource allocation, and escalation management
• Drive accountability and transparency through structured governance frameworks with offshore leads

Technical Oversight – AWS Data Ecosystem

• Coordinate delivery across AWS data services: S3, Glue, Redshift, EMR, Lambda, SageMaker, Athena, and Step Functions
• Partner with Data Engineers and Data Scientists to remove blockers, resolve dependencies, and ensure technical feasibility
• Support architecture reviews, data pipeline design sign-offs, and ML model deployment planning
• Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and data quality standards within the AWS environment

Stakeholder & Executive Communication

• Prepare and deliver executive-level project status reports, roadmaps, and steering committee presentations
• Act as single point of contact (SPOC) for business stakeholders, product owners, and technology leadership
• Proactively identify risks, resolve conflicts, and communicate blockers with mitigation plans
• Facilitate cross-functional working sessions across Operations, Engineering, Analytics, and IT teams

Project Management Skills

• Demonstrated success leading complex, multi-workstream technology programs with distributed teams
• Strong experience managing offshore/nearshore GCC teams across geographies and time zones
• Expertise in risk management, dependency tracking, change management, and stakeholder communication
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business narratives for executive audiences
